Tarotcast Week of October 7, 2018

Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz

Happy Birthday Month, Libra.

This week’s artists are Deb Young and Francisco Diaz or The International Collaboration Project. They create photo montages from random images.  Diaz in the US and the Young in New Zealand working remotely in real time on projects while viewing through the lens of each other’s cameras.  Their collaboration is based on gender equality to both redress the imbalance of woman in the art world and to infuse their narrative work with a masculine/feminine sensibility. This series of photo montage is called The Playground.

The playground is one of the first places where we learn how to cooperate, create friendships and use our imagination, but it is also a place where we first felt isolated and bullied.  As a child, it was where I first encountered gender inequality. The playground was where I learned there were boys that stood up for me so I could dig to China with them. Then there were others that didn’t because I was a girl, and they called me a confusing name for a 5-year-old, tomboy (if you want to read a great article about the history and complexity of this name click here).

I would like to give a nod to those boys and men that just see another kid/human wanting to play.  Thanks for standing up and supporting humans to gain equality, to being heard, and admitting that there is work that still needs to be done even within their own framework.  Also I ask a favor to all of us, like this photography team we need to collaborate to redress the imbalance in society in our art, government, and all other places where equality well, just isn’t actual equal. The only way we can do this is to see through the lens of another and collaborate to create the reality for us all.

P.S. Remember signs with an * it’s a big week for you.  Add Halloween readings to your trick or treat bags.  Please share.

Aries – Five of Wands

The Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz The Five of Wands is calling you to arms.  You will need to be valiant and noble, so you can bring a sense of light and passion not only into your work place but also into your life.  This week fight for something you believe in.

*Taurus – World

The Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz The World is the card of completion and opportunities.   In its simplest form it can look like finishing up old projects or finally crossing off your oldest to-do list items.  In its more complex form, this can be closing old doors, and throwing away old ideas or ideologies opening you to new opportunities and ways of “doing.”

Gemini – Ten of Swords

The Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz Last week you had the Devil come and test your resolves.  This week is another hard one with the Ten of Swords. This card warns you that your environment or thoughts are a bit on the toxic side.  The best way to handle this card, other than not going into work or numbing your brain, is to listen to your intuition. If you your neck hairs raise up make a 180, or if negative thoughts start up, watch pup or kitten videos.  This is not about avoiding forever, just this week. You are not at your best for confrontation.

Cancer – Three of Swords

The Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz The Three of Swords represent three thoughts that pierce your heart that need to be eradicated. These three thoughts are usually put there by others but you have kept them.  You are strong enough this week to pull them out and let your heart mend.  Find some positive mantras that can help sooth the wounds.

Leo – King of Swords

The Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz Last week, the World challenged you to walk out your door so you can walk through new ones and enjoy the variety of life.  This week the King of Swords continues this theme by challenging you to pick a few of those opportunities and start strategizing how you can take advantage of these new paths.  This is not a week to do but to explore, think and plan.

Virgo – King of Pentacles

The Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz The King of Pentacles is the card of materializing.  This week is a great week to put your nose to the grind stone and produce.  There is an energy this week you need to tap into.  Once you tap into your flow nothing will stop you.

Libra – Seven of Swords

The Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz The Seven of Swords is a card of impulse control.  The challenge is to make sure that your morals and ideals are in line with your actions this week.

Scorpio – Knight of Cups

The Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz The Knight of Cups is a card of romance and the heart.  It is a great week to be open and share your emotions.  The challenge is knowing when it is appropriate to wear your heart on your sleeve.

Sagittarius – Ten of Wands

The Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz The last two weeks, the Moon wanted you to understand that emotions are signposts of where your life is at, and the High Priestess tried to help you navigate  your emotions of the past and subconscious to change karmic patterns.   Now with all that emotion work you have realized, I hope, that your emotions need more time and understanding in your life.  The Ten of Wands wants to help by pointing out that you need to lighten your responsibility load.  Your priorities should line up with two passion/spirit items, two material plane projects, two emotional dealings and two thought ideals.  Anything more than that this week should go on the back burner.

Capricorn – Five of Swords

The Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz In September the focus was on you seeing that your strength comes from a variety of sources within you. Last week the Strength card wanted you to find ways to not only strength your physical body but also your mind and spirit.  This week the Five of Swords would like you to think on your inner and outer battles.  It is time to look on them and pick which ones are worth the fight.  This card suggests only picking the two that are actually winnable and leave the rest behind.

Aquarius – King of Cups

The Playground Deb Young and Francisco Diaz The King of Cups is the nice guy of the deck.  When he shows up in your life it is time to have good times but also to share them.  He is the essence of Jolly Old St. Nick, Bacchus, or the nice guy that holds open a door for anyone and wishes them a good day.  He realizes it is the little actions of joy that make life worth living.

Pisces – Seven of Wands

The New Girl from The Playground Series by International Collaboration Project Artists Francisco Diaz and Deb YoungLast week the Chariot cheered you on by saying I’m taking of the training wheels; you got this and letting you take control of creating change in your life. This week the Seven of Wands continues this theme by having you hone your skills in standing up for yourself.  To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment. –Ralph Waldo Emerson

May light be on you, around you, and within you,
