The artist this week is En Iwamura @eniwamura. Iwamura’s medium is mostly sculptural and when showing his pieces the space itself and the spacing between the pieces are as important as the work itself. “When Iwamura describes the space and scale in his works, he references the Japanese philosophy of Ma. Ma implies meanings of distance, moment, space, relationship, and more. People constantly read and measure different Ma between themselves, and finding the proper or comfortable Ma between people or places can provide a specific relationship at a given moment”

Your pondering: Ma generally denotes a pause, gap, or negative space between things and people. Notice and appreciate the Ma in your life.

The artist this week is Debra Broz. Broz is a unique sculptor for she often uses secondhand ceramic knickknacks in her work. In her words: “My sculptures are a product of my continual desire to understand and change the meaning of objects, especially those that were once valued, then discarded. I search for and alter mass-produced secondhand ceramic figurines, stuffed toys and furniture to create sculptures that embrace the unique aspects of the original objects while pushing them into the space of the uncanny. Through my collecting, recycling and reconstruction I reinvent the world, and bring attention, interest and love back to unwanted things.”

Your pondering: A knickknack is defined as “a small, decorative object kept in a home for display, such as a tiny statue, trinket, or souvenir. These items typically have no practical use and low monetary value, though they may hold sentimental meaning.” I believe that emotional meaning holds way more value than its monetary value. One of my goals is to surround myself with people and things that have meaning. What items are in your environment hold your heart?

Milke a Muckle – Milke comes when you need to lighten up and don’t complicate matters. He tells you to see things at face value. There is nothing hidden or subtle or behind the scenes. Even if there is, your focus on it will not help matters. For the next two weeks concentrate on what is in front of you, the obvious, the present.

The Singer of Intuition – For the coming two weeks the fae would like you to focus on sharpening your intuition. This is not time to second guess yourself. Happy Summer Solstice. The artist this week is Diane Di Bernardino Sanborn @diane.sanborn. Sanborn is an abstract artist and teacher. Over a year ago, I came across her in one of my deep dives into women artists on Instagram.

Sanborn often uses the Italian practice of pentimento Which translates literally to “repentance” or “changing one’s mind”. In art, it refers to the visible traces of an artist’s earlier sketches, alterations, or compositional changes hidden beneath the final layers of a painting. However, in Sanborn’s art she uses it to show “important clues for the viewer to understand my invisible world…. It is visual evidence of areas where I changed my mind, showing those alterations as important to the final work. It is just beneath the transparent surface where the viewer is given clues to my meaning.”

We have a Full Moon in Capricorn on June 29^th. A good time to update your to-do list.

And Chiron is taking its first dip into Taurus until Sept 16^th, 2026. So, we switch from lessons around understanding and healing our perceptions of our faults and weaknesses through self-compassion. To Chiron in Taurus which marks a timeframe of focus on physical healing and bonding with the natural world. It will retrograde back into Aries Sept 17^th – April 14^th, 2027. Then it will be back in Taurus until 2033. Chiron’s retrograde is our last of the outer planets, once in a millennia, collusion in chaotic retrogrades within such a short span of time ie: 2 years. Fingers crossed we are slowly leaving chaos behind.

King of Pentacles – The Muse of Work comes when you need to move a project forward or move an old project from the back burner. She reminds that you have thought about, planned, and circled this work enough. Now is time to put things in action, experiment and see if it works on the ground. In these coming weeks pay attention to what feels uncomfortable or as if it is testing a part of your ethics and what you stand for. The artist this week is Agnus Pelton. Pelton is part of the modernist movement known as a desert transcendentalist. In the desert, she ultimately found the “abstract beauty of the inner vision, which would be kindled by the inspiration of these rare and solitary places.” Pelton contemporaries include George O’Keefe and Agnus Martin. Where O’Keefe was about sensuality and Martin about nuance, Pelton takes a more spiritual approach. She writes about her desire to seek the essence of things through her paintings – “a beauty not for the eye alone, but of a more comprehensive nature, carrying a more direct impact on our newly developing perception….” A century later her work still challenges us, offering a vision of our landscape in an iridescent transcendent form.

The Hanged One – The Muse of Pause has been sent as a guide for the coming two weeks to help you gain some in-sight. Whether the circumstance you are in is stagnating, you are feeling vegetative, or overwhelmed, this muse reminds you that the pause can be very useful. If it is the first two then this time has been granted to you, use it wisely as a breather, gain a new perspective or reconnect with lost ideas. If it is the latter, then it is up to you to find space to pause in all the action so you can process.

Nine of Pentacles – The Muse of Luxury is your companion for the coming weeks. You have worked hard to get where you are at, and it is time to see and partake in how abundant your world is. However, this muse also warns to investigate how you may be over investing. Examples are possibly you are giving too much in your job or over investing in some aspect or person in your life that takes more resources or energy then it gives. This energy is about taking advantage and pleasure of your means without living or working above it.

Ten of Wands – The Muse of Burdens comes when you have too much on your plate and it is affecting your progress. Now some of these duties you need to do, but the way you are going about it is not efficient or through. This muse suggests writing a list of all the things you need to do, prioritizing them and making an approximate time they can be done in. Now cross off the last two on the list; they are on hold for two weeks. Then take the top two and work on them to completion, then the next two, and so on. You cannot add to the list unless it is urgent but then you must take off another task on the bottom. You may find by the end of the two weeks the urgency of the bottom tasks have been resolved.

Virgo

Justice – The Muse of Accountability is your guide through the challenges in the coming weeks. One aspect is your truth will be challenge. Now the key is keeping an open mind and seeing the other side’s perspective. You don’t have to agree but understanding is important to rebalancing the situation. The other aspect that you can control is that you are accountable for your actions and words. If you can’t give it 100% then don’t say you can and be truthful with what you can do.

Libra

Seven of Cups – The Muse of Dreams will be your partner for the coming weeks. She usually shows up for one or two reasons. First, you may not be dreaming big enough. You are keeping yourself small instead of letting your creativity and imagination expand your horizons. If this is it then do “what if” scenarios where there are no restrictions. The other possibility is that you are not actively pursuing your dreams. So, take this time to evaluate why. With either scenario, this is not about magical wish granting but being open to possibilities.

Queen of Wands – The Muse of the Wild is summoning you in the coming weeks to come out and play. She would like you to tune into your passion and ignite it. If blocked this muse suggests experiencing something outside of your usual genres like delving into all the recipes around a certain food item or listening to different music. The key is experiencing and experimenting with the new without expectation.

Aquarius

Ace of Pentacles – All aces signify a new beginning, and the ace of pentacles represent a beginning on the material plane. This is perfect timing for the seeds of opportunity to be planted; however, the challenge is it also needs to be lovingly tended to for the coming weeks. Some examples are applying for a new job, investing, planning a trip, starting an exercise program, starting a garden or beginning a new venture. The artist this week is Rebecca Aldernet. Aldernet has been on my list to share for quite a while. I can’t quite remember what drew me to her art, the birds, water or bubblegum, but I have loved her stuff since then. One theme in her paintings is birds and in her words here is why.

“I often get asked what inspires me to paint things.

Every day as I make my way to the studio down the alleyway, I’m greeted by the familiar sight of birds, particularly pigeons, who seem to welcome me with their presence. Occasionally, they even tap on my window. The sound of seagulls when I’m inside my studio signals that I’m in the uptown area of my city. It’s strange how a city doesn’t quite feel like a city without the echoing cries of seagulls in the distance.

Once I return home to the outskirts of a new set of challenges, present itself. Now, it’s the ducks invading my lawn that I must contend with. While I enjoy letting my cat roam outside with me, I’m always on guard as a hawk lurks nearby, eyeing him.

Even a simple bike ride isn’t without its obstacles, as Canadian geese often cross my path, leaving behind trails of droppings that I must carefully navigate to avoid slipping. As night falls and morning breaks, the soundtrack of my surroundings changes yet again. Now, it’s the cawing of crows that bid me goodnight and good morning and if I’m lucky, some beautiful chirping.

It’s as if these creatures have become an inseparable part of my daily routine, both loved and loathed.

So, I’ve come to accept them, embrace them even. I’ve decided to channel my conflicting feelings into my art, capturing the majesty of these creatures that both fascinate and frustrate me. I’m determined to learn more about them, to create new ones in my imagination. After all, why not?”
