Hi All,
The artist this week is Shyama Golden. Her paintings are what I like to call surrealistic realism, a dream-like world that is layered over reality. In her words…my current works populate a parallel dimension with a cast of characters which include vine-covered trees suggestive of human archetypes, Sri Lankan devil dancers dressed as Yakkas who take part in exorcist rituals, and self-portraiture. The work is intended to appear theatrical, reflecting on an awareness of the social performance necessitated by our relationships with each other and the drama of everyday life.
Your pondering: I find it interesting that masks have been a part of most every culture. They are used in performance, rituals, cultural and religious rites. What is this overarching need for humans to put on a mask? When do you put on your mask?

Aries

Goddess of Earth – The Muse of Summer would like to hang out with you as this season ends. She asks, how did summer nourish you? What delights did it give you? When was its dry spell? What did it give to you abundantly? This muse asks to bask in these last moments of summer.
Taurus

Five of Fire – The Muse of Choice has come to question how you use your fire. Is it like the autumn leaves, a push of brilliance before needing a season of slumber? Is it the destructive cleansing of a forest fire? The fire that nourishes? Or the cozy flame of a fireplace? The flicker of a candle in the dark? Your power is needed in the world, but it is your choice how to blaze.
Gemini

Shaman – The Muse of Teachers comes when you need to learn something new to help you navigate a darkness or an intricate path. Use these two weeks to listen and learn. Teachers come in all forms – people, animals, your environment, the inner voice, emotions, the wind… This muse advises taking this time to receive instead of putting out.
Cancerian

Five of Air and Eight of Fire – You have two muses to help you balance. First the Muse of Sacrifice, she is here to acknowledge what you have sacrificed and asks if that is worthy of you? If not time it is time for change. If so then rejoice in your growth. And then either way the Muse of Sunrises reminds you that every day is full of possibilities. Each day is full of the magic of your life.
Leo

Five of Water – The Muse of Grief is your companion for the coming weeks. First she reminds that you are allowed to grieve. It is a necessary release. And then she helps you dive deep beneath the pain and helplessness to find your strength and resilience. She reminds, that you bring such unique and wonderful gifts to the world. Even in the darkness and sorrow, the sun rises each day.
Virgo

Witch of Earth – The Muse of Purpose comes when you are being called to serve something greater than yourself, that in tun will make you greater than you are. The next two weeks will push you to expand to become more. Luckily this muse will give you courage and direction if needed. Some things will be asked of you that are innate but there is also some learning involved. Be open to the potential.
Libra

Ace of Fire – All Aces proclaim beginnings. This energy is about vitality and community. The muses would like you to spark something in your local and/or world community. It can be sidewalk library or a toy exchange. Maybe doing sidewalk art. It can be baking a yummy treat for a neighbor. Look around, what needs some joy brought to it. The muses remind, small acts of joy are the key to this beginning.
Scorpio

Two of Earth – The Muse of Cozy is your cuddle buddy for the coming two weeks. This muse would like you to snuggle up with a book, partner, pet and fluffy pillow and relax. These times are meant to be the ultimate of self-care. A time where time dissolves into warmth and enjoyment. Take these coming weeks to balance the doing with the cozy.
Sagittarius

Craftsman of Water – The Muse of Jokester comes when you have lost some of your silliness. This muse suggests regaining it by wear your shirt inside out, tell “dad jokes”, journal about a funny story, watch comedy, wear mismatched socks…. This muse would like you to stop taking life so seriously- put down your phone and sit on a whoopie cushion.
Capricorn

Ace of Earth and the Maze – You have two energies around you in the coming weeks. Aces all proclaim beginnings. These coming weeks hold launches and at the same time uncertainty. So first the muses would like you to stand back from your new beginning and see the bigger picture. You need to reorient with the larger landscape, all the plans and roads to take. And at the same time relinquish one avenue and allow it to be guided in its own accord. These muses are here to remind you that not everything can or should be controlled.
Aquarius

Ace of Air – All aces proclaim new beginnings. This energy of air is about consciousness, intelligence and communication. You will be full of ideas and have a variety of conversations. Both will bring broader and brighter wisdom. The challenge is balancing the mind and the mouth with the ears. The muses remind, that all things come from silence. Thus, it is as important to communicate as it is to listen during these coming weeks.
Pisces

Wheel of Life – The Muse of Seasons comes when you need to reconnect with the cycles of life: birth, growing, flourishing, aging, dying, resting and returning. You have become too linear in your thinking. That the path you are on is leading to only one thing. So, she recommends diving into this coming autumn- harvest or spring- renewal (depending on where you are at). Pumpkins or daffodils, the key is partaking in the joy of the season you are in and then realizing that its bounty will come again.
