Tarotcast week of August 7, 2016

podcasts

I love podcasts because I love to hear about new information, ideas, and thoughts. I also think that it’s a great format for comedians. A podcast is “a digital audio file made available on the Internet for downloading to a computer or portable media player, typically available as a series, new installments of which can be received by subscribers automatically.” The roots of podcasts have been around since the1980’s, but really all the parts came together for the masses in 2000. Sixteen years later articles say there are 180K- 250K podcasts, with approximately 75 million subscribers per month.

The podcast I am listening to now is Revisionist History by Malcolm Gladwell. He wrote the books Blink and The Tipping Point. He says it a podcast about unknowns and misunderstandings. For example, the Uncontrollable Acceleration(UA) Toyota recall was basically wrong. The reason for all the UA incidents was that drivers didn’t realize they were pushing on the wrong pedal. The short version of the podcast is if you find yourself accelerating take your foot off whatever pedal and reapply it to the brake. Brakes trump the gas pedal every time. If you are interested you can listen to the whole podcast on ITunes for free.

P.S. I have attached some podcasts that are on my “listen to” list. They may or may not have to do with your tarotcast. Remember, when signs have * it’s a big week for you.

*Aries – The Tower – The Tower represents change from an outside source. Now the cool thing about The Tower is it comes around when things need to be shaken up because something is not working. This week something that is not working in your life is going to shift, and your challenge is to except it. Now this can be as easy as an “aha moment” in solving a problem or as complex as a move or a relationship shift. Ted Radio Hour- a mash up of Ted talks that make sense together.

Taurus – Ace of Wands – So after your “learning week”, comes the Ace of Wand’s insight. Insight brings with it energy, a sense of eagerness and inner strength. These you will have in abundance this week. Your challenge is not everyone is on the same energy level as you so introduce your ideas/projects with some humility. You will need people to help you get done what you have envisioned.   Beautiful Stories From Anonymous People – the name says it all.

Gemini – Five of Cups – Did you take a traveler Zen like approach last week? By getting your monkey mind to quiet down has brought you to a place where you can let go of extra emotional weight this week. The Five of Cups’ lesson is to see that disappointment and letting go can be a gateway to a new lighter and focused walk forward. The Moth- true stories told without notes and live.

Cancer – King of Swords – The King of Swords’ lesson is to take your knowledge and put it into practice. This week use your brain to its best ability. So get lots of rest and get your omega 3’s, you will need it.  The Angry History Show- Correcting errors in popular history reporting.

Leo – Ace of Pentacles – Did you contemplate the questions last week on how and what you want to grow into your life for next year? The Ace of Pentacles is suggesting another week to do just that. Aces mean new beginnings and pentacles are the physical world. Last week it was a lot of imagining what to plant in a big picture way. This week it’s more about laying out the details of getting what you want in your new year. You Must Remember This- forgotten history of old Hollywood.

Virgo – Eight of Pentacles – This is the week for you to get prepared for your own gold medal. Your challenge is to be honest with yourself . What do you really like to do and what you do well? If you are following your passion, this week take some time to figure out how you can enhance your skills and start to put it into place. Your goal is mastery of your work. If you are not following your passion or what you are doing is not allowing you to do what you want or be where you want, it is time to change what you are doing. You cannot master something that does not have a positive influence in your life. Modern Day Philosophers- comedians take on the ideas of the great philosophers.

Libra – Page of Wands – Okay, this is your third court card in a row. That means people are still a priority in your life right now. So you have focused on favorite person, not so favorite person and now it is time to get acquainted with someone new in your life. Page of Wands represents a new person that will inspire you to feel more in sync with yourself and your life. Bruce Lee – conversation by his daughter and guests about his life and philosophy.

Scorpio – Queen of Swords – Your second court card in a row, so that means people are making an important stance in your life. This week The Queen of Swords’ lesson is around asking for help. You will do better if you have a person as your sounding board for decisions this week. The challenge is to let go of your ego and accept that two heads are better than one. Myths and Legends – sourced from world folklore, retold for modern ears.

Sagittarius – Eight of Wands – This week is a war of wills. You will be able to win it if you listen to what other people are saying and then probe deeper to get to the “meaning” of what they are saying. Sleep with Me- silly bedtime stories to put any insomniac to sleep.

Capricorn – Ten of Swords – Last week your challenge was to allow “new ideas and creative urges to mature without judgment. Like you would a child – nurture this new fledgling self with encouragement and self reflection until you can walk on your own.” This week your challenge with the Ten of Swords is to protect that new self/idea so keep your “developing child” to yourself. It and you are too delicate to be exposed under society’s critiquing gaze. The Bright Sessions- audio drama about eavesdropping on therapy sessions with a twist.

Aquarius – Five of Pentacles – Last week with the Sun card did you identify the joy in your life and spread it around? I hope so because this week the Five of Pentacles’ lesson is to acknowledge the who and how you are supported with work and money matters. The challenge with the Five of Pentacles is not to look at what you don’t have but to look at what you do. The Joe Rogan Experience- a variety of comedians and Joe.

Pisces – Five of Wands – This will be a busy week or at least it feels like it.   The lesson with the Five of Wands is to realize “the chaos” that surrounds you is a bit of an illusion. How recognize this is when you feel overwhelmed or rushed. When this happens your challenge is to identify what chaos is yours, do ONE thing to make your mess better, and the rest of the stuff – let it go. Because, you can only do so much with your own stuff and you are enabling others not to be responsible for their own mess. Hello From the Magic Tavern- it’s on my list for the title alone.

May light be on you, light around you, and light within you,

Nina
