The artist this week is Hiroshi Yoshida.   He is regarded as one of the greatest artists of the shin-hanga style and one of the first artist to use this style depicting places outside of Japan.  He was especially known for his mountain wood cut prints. These are his series Sailboats, where he uses the same woodcut but different color palettes to represent different times of the day and weather conditions.  This is a beautiful example of how color is associated with time and mood.  And how art can use this alone to manipulate the viewer’s feelings and thoughts.

Pondering: My favorite colors are spring green and a blue sky with white fluffy clouds.  The combo makes me feel hopeful and relaxed.  It’s funny if it is just sky-blue, I don’t like it as much.  It must have white aspect added to it.  What are the colors you favor and what emotions or thoughts do they bring forth?

Solar System highlights for the next two weeks

We have a Full Moon in Libra on April 1^st – is all about balance and relationships though be careful that your April Fool’s jokes don’t hit too close to home.

Venus moves into Taurus from March 31 to April 23^rd.  This is its home sign, so it is a lovely time for amplifying all things that bring beauty, love, nature and harmony into your life

Mercury is still in its extra-long excursion through Pisces until April 14^th.  This lesson/exploration is around communicating our fantasies and dreams, non-linear thinking and a heightening of our Spidey sense.   The challenge is staying grounded when collecting information and giving it out.  Miscommunication is at its height during this time, so double check the “facts”.
