Tarotcast week of May 15, 2016

Museums are one of my favorite places to hang out. The amazing thing about museums for me is that we have collectively decided to hoard certain things to be viewed by the public. This goes against what most animals do when collecting. Usually species of animals hoard food items or building material for themselves. Besides ourselves, only two species (beavers and acorn woodpeckers) and social insects are known to share their hoards. However, humans -uniquely- also hoard things from the past and art which are mostly non-utilitarian. Why?

The first museum is accredited to Princess Ennigaldi in 530 BCE in what is now known as Iraq. The oldest public art museum is The Capitoline Museum opened in 1471 and started by a Pope donating part of his art collection to the people of Rome. The most visited museum in modern times is the Lourve with over 8.6 million people visiting a year. The cool thing about museums for me is watching the people look at the collections. It makes me wonder about all the people that have looked at that piece in the past. That is an amazing thing about museums, they make the experience of time non-linear. Maybe that is why we hoard and display art and artifacts to blow our minds throughout time.

P.S. Remember, when signs have * it’s a big week for you. I have attached some virtual museums websites for fun.

*Aries – The Lovers – Another higher arcane card, this week you all got The Lovers card. The last two weeks hopefully you spun The Wheel and some new things/ideas/people have come into your life. The Lovers card is all about the concept of combining two things to create something new. So it could be that these new people can help you accomplish something, or it can be combining two ideas that form a more cohesive idea, or new things can create an art piece, or adding something new to your living room can give it a homier feel, etc… So go create something amazing. *Taurus – The Empress – The Empress is a great card to end your birthday month. You started with planning where you want your new year to go with the Two of Wands.   Then you cleaned your slate with The Fool card, then The Sun card helped you identify the joy you wanted to continue to shine and grow in the world, and now then Empress arrives the card of creation. The Empress card asked what passion do you want to grow in the world and how will it benefit others? Her challenge: Are you creating a life were not only are you are emotional satisfied but understand how you gained the good things in your life so you can grow more for others. Gemini – Seven of Cups – The third week of cups or “the good things in life” for you all. The Seven of Cups challenges you to spend some time imagining, pondering, and thinking outside the box. This is a week you air signs will love. It’s a week to keep your head in the clouds, see the horizon, and imagine what lays beyond that.  Museum Virtual

Cancer – Ace of Wands – Last week did you loosen the reins on your life just a bit? I hope so because the Ace of Wands is here to inspire you with energy and ideas. You need last week’s Fool’s relaxed wisdom to be open to the inspirations coming at you. So be aware even if the inspiration comes from left field, they’ll have some information for you. Google Art Project

Leo – Eight of Swords – Another week to look at the negative thoughts that bind you. I am glad to see you went from 9 to 8 of swords. You all got away from one negative thought pattern – the one associated with fear but based in love and now to look at the rest. Fire signs’ hate to be bound by anything and then when it’s your own thought it frustrates you even more. The challenge from the Eight of Swords is find the ones that you actually hold in your hand and let them go and see you held the chains all along. Spy Museum

Virgo – Ace of Cups – The Ace of Cups is here to teach you gratitude and receptivity this week. The Ace of Cups’ challenge is to see that love and therefore the essence of living cannot be seized but only received. So the lesson is not to just logically see the cup is half full but to feel it too. National Gallery Sculpture of Angkor and Cambodia

Libra – Knight of Swords – The Knight of Swords challenges you to slow down this week. This is not the week to rush – into any decisions, contracts, do anything legal or even watch your pace while moving in the physical world. This week the fast pace will make you distracted so slowing down is the only way you won’t miss information that will save you some pain. (So how this plays out is – you are speeding and don’t see the cop that pulls you over and get a ticket, rushing around you slip and sprain your ankle, you leave your wallet somewhere, you forget that important document for your meeting in the printer, etc…) Wouldn’t you rather be five minutes late than, injured, with less cash, hurt, or look disorganized? Univ of Chicago Oriental Institute

Scorpio – Four of Swords – This week it is important you pace yourself and find some time to pull away from the maddening crowd. Your work/life balance is off kilter and it is a good time to readjust it. You don’t want to get worn down, get sick or lash out. The Met

Sagittarius – Seven of Swords – The Seven of Swords challenges you to come up with ways that win the battle without losing your integrity. The Seven of Swords warns you to be careful not to cut corners, give credit where credit is due, and pay attention to the details. The challenge is around taking the easy route for convenience or taking a longer or complex route that aligns with your integrity. National Gallery Van Gough

Capricorn – Queen of Cups – Last week you dealt with The Hierophant and societal structures in your life. This week the Queen of Cups lets you shrug all that off for some good times. The Queen of Cups is the card that personifies the good things in life. So she is here to remind you to make sure you are balancing the work and play though she leans to play having the bigger percentage. Take time this week to do the things that make you happy after last week you deserve it. Oxford Museum of Natural History

Aquarius – Queen of Wands – The Queen of Wands is here to ask what is it that makes you tick? This week do something solely for yourself that keeps your fires going and your clock wound. It can be as simple as a bath, being the receiver in bed, being in nature, or curling up with a good book, a movie or game. The challenge is to do it with no guilt. Louvre Museum

Pisces – Knight of Swords/Five of Pentacles – This is a two card week. The Fives and therefore chaos still hover around your life this week. The challenge is around the Knight and needing to slow down. The Knight of Swords means you need to slow your thoughts around the things in your everyday life. You are making mistakes and not dotting your “i’s”.   This attention to detail is not meant to bog you down but just slow you down to avoid mistakes that can cost you in the future. May light be on you, light around you, and light within you,
