Poetry has resurfaced in my life because a friend of mine has been posting some of her favorite poets. I find the art of poetry fascinating because historians think it originally started as a way to memorize history. That the repetition, use of visualizing words, rhyming, the sing-songness of poetry helps us remember it. They believe the oldest written poem are The Story of a Shipwrecked Sailor and the Gilgamesh Epic. They both have travels to and find wisdom. This theme continues in later epic poems like Odyssey, Iliad, Ramayana and Mahabharata.

Poetry has now evolved to surpass just a way to memorize epic stories. Poetry is unique in that it can an art form bound by rules and when done well in that tight binding show infinity- like haiku. Or formed to crash intellect into naughtiness- the limerick. Or boundlessness like free verse or rap. Poetry has grown now to encompass the diversity of the personal story. Yes, it still tells our history but it also has given us a window into the individual perspectives of our hearts and souls.

P.S. I have attached a few poems that I think go with your reading. Remember, when signs have * it’s a big week for you. I have attached some poetry

Aries – Knight of Wands – The Knight of Wands is here to remind you to have an adventure this week. The challenge is not to get lost in all the options – pick one and just do it. The great thing with the Knight of Wands is that there are no expectations to whatever you pick to do. Hmmm then again that might be another challenge for you Aries – can you “do” without expecting an outcome? Blank Letter – S. Sen

Taurus – Ace of Pentacles – Second week of Aces or new beginnings for you all. The Ace of Wands asked you to pay attention to what you sowed the last week. This week the Ace of Pentacles wants you to continue the path of planting for the future and to plan some short-term goals. The challenge will be can you balance both Aces (short and longer term goals) at the same time without feeling stressed? Hint: if you are feeling stressed, your short and long-term goals maybe at odds with each other. Life is fine!- L Hughes

Gemini – Two of Swords – This week it’s all options and this can bring Geminis to a standstill. You all love having lots of options but at the same time you are like a kid in a candy store overwhelmed by which to taste first. The Two of Swords is challenging you to close your eyes and pick the first option you touch and then savor it. You may love it or hate it and spit it out. One, you will finally know what it taste like, and two if it isn’t right, there is another choice within your grasp – close your eyes and pick again. The Road Not Taken – R. Frost

Cancer – King of Wands – This week is a time to get your Zen on. Find time to mediate, create, surf, drink tea and stare out a window – anything to get your mind into the zone of “do not think”. (I sense with all this “retrograde” going on in astrology land the more sensitive signs are needing breaks from the world to recharge.) Don’t Worry Spiders – K. Issa

Leo – Five of Wands – This week is going to be a bit chaotic for you all. There seems to be a lot going on, but in actuality it isn’t your chaos unless you want it to be. The challenge is seeing what your actually responsible for and side-stepping the stuff you’re not. I Wander Lonely as a Cloud – W. Wordsworth

Virgo – Eight of Wands – Second eight in a row for you all. So first let’s look at eights in general. They have to do with transcendence and letting go. Pentacles to transcend to mastery, Cups letting go of past emotions, Swords letting go of thoughts that bind you ( that was last week), and Wands (this week) synchronicities that lead you to transcend to the next phase. So that’s your challenge this week, look around the universe has some information for you. Hint: take a walk or a ride and look along the side of the road for messages that will help you let go and transcend. Where the Side Walk Ends – S. Silverstein

Libra – Ten of Cups – Your challenge this week: “Celebrate good times – come on…. Kool and the Gang – Celebrate – at the very least this week watch the video and the very most live the video. XO. You may forget but let me tell you this: someone in some future time will think of us- Sappho

Scorpio – Ace of Swords – The Ace of Swords challenges you to answer and solve this question: If there was one thought you would like to change what would it be? Be Glad Your Nose is on Your Face – J. Prelutsky

*Sagittarius – High Priestess – Ok, so last week you got Queen of Wands so you could slow the change the gait of charging into your future into a stroll with an occasional sit down to ponder the scenery. Well, the High Priestess is the big sister to the Queen of Wands. Either you all didn’t listen last week to slowing down or the universe has blessed you with another week of it. The High Priestess is challenging you to spend some time with your inner voice. It has been trying to tell you something, so sit down for goodness sake and listen. If You Have Seen – T. Moore

*Capricorn – The Hierophant – The Hierophant is here to ask you – who are your teachers? What did they impart? And can you make it flexible enough to fit into your belief system and then teach that to someone else so it can fit into theirs? Example: it can be as “simple” as teaching your child how and why to make their bed or as “complex” as how and why do you? I kill an ant, and realize my three children, have been watching. – Kato Shuson

Aquarius – Ten of Wands/Ace of Cups – Two card week for you all. The Ten of Wands ask you to pare down and remove the unnecessary because the Ace of Cups has an opportunity for you but doesn’t want to exhaust you with one more thing. So the challenge this week is to remember your priorities and eliminate what isn’t necessary, so a new opportunity can come in. I Taught Myself to Live Simply – A. Akhmatova

*Pisces – Temperance – Last week you needed to balance yourself by figuring out your pace – walk, trot, or gallop and then sticking to it.   This week Temperance is continuing the trend asking you to spend some more time trying to balance out your life’s pace. How

this plays out is that some things may still need to be at full throttle, but most of the time a walk or trot will get you there and you will arrive a lot healthier. Touched by An Angel – M. Angelou

May light be on you, light around you, and light within you,

Nina
