Jack Whitten was an abstract artist that died two days ago.  He swam in the abstract, not only in his art form but in his mind. He recently said I practice thought experiments in abstract painting. Thought experiments allow me to…travel anywhere I want without the encumbrance of matter.

Throughout his career, he seemed to try creating a sense of  structure out of the chaos of the abstract. He was discovered by the art community by his unique technique of  painting layers of paint then combing them in a way that seemed to tame the chaos.  Later, Whitten created and refined a technique of building up a painted surface with gobs of acrylic paint and minute artifacts  (dust, pieces of wood, glass etc..).  He then cut the painted surface into tiles and reconstructed the painting.   He was fascinated with quantum physics and made it his focal point of his last show, Quantum Walls before his death.

Quantum Mechanics is the fundamental theory in science which describes nature at the smallest scale – energy levels of atoms and subatomic particles. One of the main experiments of Quantum theory is the Slot Experiment.  Scientists shot a beam of particles at a wall with two slots and found there is a pattern predicting where those particles will land on the screen behind.  Then they shot one particle thinking it will pick a slot to go into predictably, but the funny thing is it shows the same pattern as the beam of particles.   So as Whitten explained about his last art project and oddly sums up this experiment:  Quantum mechanics has rendered obsolete any notion of a wall.

Aries – Page of Swords

The last two weeks, the Emperor and the Empress challenged you to use your creative energy.  This week the Page of Swords tells you to step off doing and to listen.  This card foretells that there is some information that you need to find.  Your challenge is to ask questions but in the most subtle of ways.  It is not words that will be telling you what’s going on but subtle body cues.

The Chariot brings change that you are in control of.  This week is all about moving forward with balance.  This in its simplest form tells you to check your tires or eat a more balanced diet, but in its complex this is seriously doing something about imbalances in your life.

*Gemini – Devil

I see why you needed the past two weeks’ good vibes, because the Devil has arrived.  The Devil card foretells that trials and test of your resolve are coming.  And you get these tests right when you are about to move on to a new phase.  Simply this could just be testing out a solution at work or the complex example is in life testing your resolve to no longer berate yourself or blame others.  You have to think of this week like final exams week. You have already learned what you needed to and the Devil comes to test if you really want to move on to the next phase of your life.  Watch your reactions they are the key.

Cancer – Knight of Wands

Last week, the Magician asked are you creating the life that you want because have all the tools you need.  This week the Knight of Wands continues this theme.  You are on the right track just keep following your passion.

 

*Leo – Sun

This is your card.  The Sun card is always a good card to get but for you this is your good luck card.  This week should be smooth sailing.   The only challenge with the Sun is not basking in it.  You deserve a week of good vibes.  Take them in.

 

Virgo – Knight of Swords

The Knight of Swords warns you not to rush this week.  The world around you might feel like it wants you to make a decision now, buy something now, or move now.  But heed this card – slow your roll.

 

Libra – Two of Cups

Last week the Emperor asked you to build upon what you have started.  The Two of Cups continues this theme but has you focus on expanding your happiness.  I know you all are like duh…but here is the thing.  You all are practical people.  You see the balance of good and bad in the world.  This card is challenging you to let the balance you create lean a bit more towards the positive then making good and bad so exactly equal..

*Scorpio – Hermit

So Death and the Queen of Cups last week wanted you to clear your emotions for the change that is coming.  The Hermit’s arrival has given you a bit more time to work on your emotions, so when the winds of change come you can sail with confidence.  The only challenge with the Hermit for a Scorpio is the way you pull away to gain perspective.  Either you do not gain the solitude that you need for this contemplation, or you pull so far away that it is hard to come back.  So, keep the light porch light on.

Sagittarius – Eight of Wands

Last week you got the Chariot which asked you to control and manipulate your destiny. The Eight of Wands continues this theme by providing you with information you will need to continue towards your destiny.  Your challenge is eyes, ears, and mind open.

Capricorn – Five of Swords

The last two weeks  Death wanted you to let something metaphorically die and then Judgment wanted something in your life to evolve into the new.  Now in this new paradigm, chaos has come in the form of the Five of Swords.  The Five of Swords has challenged you to confront your ego.   Let your ego stay in the ashes of Judgment’s phoenix a little longer. Think of your ego as a pine cone, it needs a good blaze to create the next forest.

Aquarius – Ace of Swords

Another Ace arrives for your birth month.  The Ace of Swords adds new ideas and an expanding mind  to your year of healing and creation on the physical plane.  It seems like 2018 is shaping into a year for you to heal the old, and plan and plant for what you want the harvest of 2022 to look like.

*Pisces – Judgment and the Four of Swords

You have been getting a lot of karmic cards before your actual birth month starts and this week is no different.  Just like you all trying to get ahead of the game. Judgment is your big card this week.  Judgment reconfirmed that you are on a journey to rebirth.  This card also challenges you.  In order to achieve this goal you need to look back at your past actions and honestly evaluate what you want to change.   And the Four of Swords adds to the mix by reminding you that you need to take care of yourself along the way, for you are the vehicle for this “baby” of yours..
