The artist this week is vanessa german @vanessalgerman.  Okay, I’m going to gush just a bit. I’m in love with german’s sculptures and then with each post she fills it with the most beautiful words/thoughts. I have read many of them over and over, each time a new meaning comes from them.  Her words and art have “the feels”.

And now to a tiny bit of her artist statement: “A visual storyteller, german utilizes assemblage and mixed media, combining locally found objects to build protective ritualistic structures known as her power figures. Modeled on Congolese Nkisi sculptures and drawing on folk art practices, they are embellished with materials including beading, glass, fabric, and sculpted wood, and come into existence at the axis on which Black power, spirituality, mysticism, and feminism converge.”

Your pondering for this week: german’s splash in insta is “.i make sculpture but really i am just making love.”  I love this statement and it got me thinking what do I do that makes love?  Right now, it’s caregiving for my Mom and doing tarot readings. Not only do I love doing it, but the goal is to uplift people and help create more ease, more caring, more love.  Do you have something you do that makes love?

****And I am experimenting again.   I had switched from using the older suits name (pentacles, cups, swords, and wands) to a more elemental way of reading them which is earth, water, air, and fire.  Now I would like to leave the binary and feudal system of the RWS’s court cards.  So, the RWS old version is Page, Knight, Queen, and King is changing to Heart (pure embodiment of element), Body (moving the element), Spirit (living the element) and Mind (taking care of the element).

 

Solar System highlights

The moon begins the week in Sagittarius work on exploring even seeing old situations with new eyes.   On Wednesday it moves into Capricorn and a new moon, great for doing what needs to be done. On Friday the moon is in Aquarius do something for your community.

Mercury is back in Sagittarius so you can re-tweak and do more experimenting with your communication skills until February 8^th when it rolls back into Capricorn to implement what you have learned.  Mars (action) is in Capricorn (discipline) until February 14th.  This is a great time to get things checked off your to do list.  While Venus (beauty and harmony) has moved into Sagittarius until January 23^rd, so she would like you to experiment with any aspect that increases beauty in your life.

Jupiter (abundance) is in Taurus (grounding) until May 25, 2024, which is all about expanding pleasure but watch overindulgence.  And Saturn (structures) is in Pisces (dream, create) thru Feb 13, 2026, so fluidity is the name of the game.
