Tarotcast week of February 21,2016

“Hatred paralyzes life; love releases it. Hatred confuses life; love harmonizes it. Hatred darkens life; love illuminates it.”  MLK Jr

February is Black History month. When I was a teacher, I had to decide how to represent black history month to my students. Personally, I wish we would just incorporated Black, Hispanic, Asian, Islamic, Native American etc… in with “regular” history. This stems from my belief that history as a whole has more to teach us then its parts. To me history is not just a singular event, person or place but a series of cause and effects that are linked globally. However, I don’t want to dismiss the fact that for now we need these focused studies of groups of peoples’ history. We need not only to honor and understand a peoples’ history but to fill in the very big blank spaces in America’s history classes. So in honor of Black History month I added some amazing black people in history, one male and one female. They do not represent all of Black history and they are not all the most famous, but they are some that resonate with me.

P.S. Remember signs that have * it’s a big week for you.

Aries- Six of Rods – Last week the Five of Rods challenged you before you to step back and assess the energy around the situation or person. This week you move on to the Six of Rods. Because of your considerate behavior last week, you have more people looking to you for guidance. Your assignment is to continue on assessing energies and responding with grace and kindness. With the Six, the good energy you put out will come back to you three fold.  Amazing People: Phillis Wheatley, James W. Johnson

Taurus – Five of Rods- This week with the Five of Rods you will find many distractions when you try to create any movement with your projects or your life. The challenge with the Five of Rods is not to fight or push through every distraction. They are, surprisingly, here to help you prioritize. If you find yourself distract from a project step back look at the distraction. It might be more important than the project.  Amazing People: Virginia Hamilton, Langston Hughes

*Gemini – High Priestess – Last week the air was abuzz with information for you. And you really didn’t have enough time to process it all. So lucky you, you all got the High Priestess. This card is the card of knowledge. She is the processor of information. This week, spend time going over the information you absorbed last week.. It held some amazing insights to your life and your future. Find time to look at them more closely and then figure out how to implement this new information.  Amazing People: Frances Harper, James Booker

Cancer – Ace of Pentacles – Two weeks ago you got the Ace of Swords with its new beginnings. Last week you moved forward clearing six small but motivating things off of your to do list. Well the work you did last week got you to a new starting point. This week’s challenge is to keep that momentum going by moving just one bigger “to do” off your list.  Amazing People: Misty Copeland, Garret Morgan

Leo – Knight of Rods – Crazy another court card. You are continuing your journey of learning to be the ruler of your domain with the Knight of Rods. Two weeks ago you got some info, last week you hopefully acted on it, and this week the knight is here to keep the momentum going on what start two weeks ago. I still need you to remember that court cards (kings, queens, knights and pages) all can represent people in our lives that remind us of what qualities we need to pay attention to in ourselves. Your challenge with the Knight of Rods: Are you surrounding yourself with people that spur you on creatively? And are you reciprocated that cheerleader alchemist energy to people in your life?  Amazing People: Henry Ossawa Tanner, Ida Bell Wells-Barnett,

*Virgo – The Chariot – So new beginnings are still in the mix for you all from last week. However, The Chariot challenges you to take the reins and move yourself in to your new future. There are three higher arcane cards in the deck that represent change, Death, Chariot, and Tower. Death and The Tower represent change that you have little to no control over, but the Chariot let’s you decide all aspects of your future. I personally love the Chariot because you have control of what happens. Of course that means that it is all up to you too. This week The Chariot challenges you to make things happen to get your life moving. The big question this week: What road are you going to take?  Amazing People: Bessie Colman, Palmer Hayden

Libra – Nine of Pentacles – The Nine of Pentacles is here to remind you -that even though this week you will have your work hat on even through the weekend. Here are two pieces of advice to make it through this stretch. One, you will get more done if you can spend some time alone. Two, get into nature. I know for half of the world we are still in the midst of winter. But if you have a way to get your hands in some dirt or snow, by the end of it you will have solved the problem from work.  Amazing People: Mae Jemison, Ernst Everett Just

Scorpio -Two of Pentacles – You made it through the week. Did you hear your call to destiny? Did your mantra help? This week, things slow down a bit. Well, at least that is what you need to make happen. It will be a bit of a juggling act with all you have to do this week. The Two of Pentacles advice to you is to put all the juggling balls down and pick just two back up. When or if you get really good at juggling two then you can add another ball. This week it is all about balance, patience, and timing.  Amazing People: Sarah S. Goode, Jean Baptiste-Point Du Sable

*Sagittarius – Justice- Another big week for you. This week things seems unsure and a bit out of balance. Last week the High Priestess challenged you to pay attention to your intuition and inner voice. This would give you insight on the change that is happening in your life.   Some of you, you are still not sure if you should grab the change. Others, you have already made the decision. So this tarotcast has two parts. For those of you that are still deciding, The Justice card is here to remind you that you should go back to logical thinking make a pro and cons list around the decision and follow that alone. For those of you that have made the decision whether to change or not, The Justice card is telling you to move forward it is important that you find and ground your center. Even though things are a bit shaky, you have made the right decision. You just need to remind yourself of your deepest desires and know that all things will end up fair in the end.  Amazing People: Marian Anderson, W.E.B DuBois

Capricorn – Seven of Pentacles- Last week, you had those lovely butterflies and focusing to contend with. That was practice for this week.   The Seven of Pentacles is telling you are at your best this week if you keep yourself busy. The only thing your mind should contemplate while you are busy is are your actions still progressing you forward to your goals?  Amazing People: Alma Woodsey Thomas, George Herriman

Aquarius – King of Pentacles-The King of Pentacles is a nice transition from the Strength card last week. King of Pentacles is here to remind you that you are the ruler of your destiny. You found out last week what kind of strength you have. Now The King is here to ask- how are you going to use that strength to obtain the material success that you desire? After you answered that, this is a great week to sit down with a calendar and a to do list to map your way there.  Amazing People: Lois Mailou Jones , Satchel Paige

Pisces – Six of Swords- Last week, I hope you let three things go because this week it is time to move on from them. The Six of Swords challenges you to gain some distance (it could be a short term physical move or just mental space to gain perspective) from those destructive three of swords. This week is a time of healing so be kind to yourself after last week you need it.  Amazing People: Sojourner Truth, Derek Walcott

May light be on you, light around you, and light within you,

Nina
